Do you believe in magic?

, 2 commentaires

Just finished reading one of those "brilliant psychological crap of an article" about the infamous rebel teenage years - and the more I read, the more I disagreed with all the parenting theories on how to raise adolescents and make "good honest citizens". You really wanna have a child with no dazzling annoying personality? Buy a dog instead…

I remember way too well my teenage years.
There are the ones that are "good boys and girls", that will never step out of line, who will live up to their parents high expectations. Then there are the rebel ones, who will ditch classes, fake signatures on bad graded papers, jump of the window to go to a party, get drunk and be arrested. And finally, there are the ones that really screw things up and self-destroy their bodies and souls in search of something that they don't even know what it is.

Parents (for the most part) do the best they can, raise these "irrational creatures" from babies to adolescents and then......they take a leap of faith that all that they have done, all the love and advice given....will guide these teenagers to the right path.

So.....This is what I can't tell but wish for my soon-to-be irritating teenage kids.

Be happy!
Have fun!
Sing out loud!
Dance in the rain!
Be erratic!
Be irrational!
Be impulsive!
Fall inlove!
Get heartbroken!
Rely on your friend to glue your heart back together!
Break someone’s heart!
Skip classes!
Try to lie to your parents (we have lied to ours, but we will pretend we believe you)!
Screw things sometimes!
Be grounded for weeks!
Escape grounding, be caught and be triple grounded!
Get wasted at least once in your life!
Defy what your parents will tell you!
Stand up to your beliefs!
Be ready to be wrong a lot!
Accept that you were wrong and you screwed up!
Make peace with your parents (they might not get what the hell you are doing but they love you unconditionally)!
Forget what others may say about you!
Be different!
Be yourself!
Be proud of who you are!
Write poetry!
Try to write poetry and discover you suck at it!
Go to concerts!
Be in a band!
Be a groupie in a band!
Take stupid pictures and make an album (that will make you laugh 10 years later)!
Believe in magic and wishing upon a star!

Be always safe!
Never forget that you only live once!
Remember that what might seem fun from afar will take you to hell in no time, and sometimes there is no way back!

These are the years to follow the stars, day dream and have fun. Don’t miss out on them!
